The keynote of next Monday it is going to be the beginning of a new journey for Apple. It is expected to see a lot of news in all its operating systems from iOS 15 through watchOS 8 or the next generation of macOS. Throughout these weeks, Apple is effusively announcing its WWDC through a Messages interface, the iOS WhatsApp, and we are likely to see big changes to this app next week. Rumors suggest that The Health, Maps and Safari apps also receive many new features, redesigning themselves and taking an important leap with respect to iOS 14.

This tweet from a Wall Street Journal writer further fueled rumors about the reinvention of Messages, Maps, Health and Safari. If we analyze the context in which we find ourselves in this WWDC 2021 is that we have a wide variety of software available whose limitations, especially in iPadOS, make the usability of the devices less free. IPadOS 15 is expected to bring a major internal reform that allows exploit the great potential of the latest iPad Pro with M1 chip from Apple.
But hand in hand with iOS 15 there are great suspicions that both Safari like Maps reinvent themselves. It is clear that Apple will take advantage of the privacy pull to give its web browser many more obstacles for tracking companies and advertising analytics. The objective? Convincing the user that privacy matters and that their browser is the most powerful. We will see how far they can go.
On the other hand, Maps has to take a leap at the level of functionalities if you don’t want to be far behind Google Maps. Apple’s own Street View, ‘Turn around’, should reach more and more countries. In addition, the tools for establishments and intra-iOS usability should be much better integrated.
What’s more, Health and Messages will also have their thing at WWDC 2021. According to rumors, Health could incorporate new options for tracking sleep and quantifying calories. Although the redefinition of the concept of Health as an application or as a service is also on the table. It is something that we will have to see throughout the presentation. But what is clear is that Apple continues to bet on improving the health of its users.
And finally, Messages has to have its own on June 7. The announcements of WWDC 2021 with its interface cannot be a coincidence. Perhaps, and just perhaps, Apple wants to take advantage of Facebook’s discomfort of rejecting anti-tracking policies on WhatsApp to take over the most vindictive users against the messaging service. We will finally see how this all ends.
